IOWA HIPAA SNIP

Iowa HIPAA SNIP is the Strategic National Implementation Process and was was originally designed by WEDI (Workgroup on Electronic Data Interchange), a national group dedicated to fostering standard electronic formats.

An Iowa HIPAA SNIP group was formed to work together on compliance with the law and has been meeting since March. The group is composed of a Steering committee and three work groups: Privacy, Transactions/Code Sets, and Security. Its purposes are to establish opportunities for collaboration, compile industry input, and document best practices. It serves as a resource for the health care industry in resolving issues arising from HIPAA implementation.

The Iowa HIPAA SNIP is creating a Web site for Iowa Providers and carriers to share the latest information on HIPAA. You can find more information on the Iowa HIPAA SNIP Web site at www.iowasnip.org.
